For the ancient Mayans, the universe was composed of three levels and seven cosmic directions: the cardinal points, the upper world, the earthly world, and the underworld.
The most feared place was Xibalbá, where the nine dark lords dwelled. Only the bravest and most privileged could descend and be in contact with them.
In this adventure, you will have the opportunity to explore the gates to the underworld, known as ts’ono’oto’ob, mysterious places that were possibly used for offerings to Bolonti’ Ku’, the nine lords of Xibalbá.

Your adventure begins early at 6:00 a.m. when we pick you up from your hotel in Valladolid.
The journey to the Río Lagartos port will take approximately 2 hours, but the wait will be worth it.
Once in Río Lagartos, you’ll board a boat for an exciting journey through mangroves and estuaries. During the tour, an expert guide will accompany you, offering you the opportunity to closely observe a variety of migratory birds and local wildlife, including the fascinating crocodiles that inhabit the region.
After the boat ride, we will visit the iconic pink lagoons of Las Coloradas, where you’ll be able to marvel at the vibrant color of the waters, caused by the high concentration of salt and unique microorganisms. This place is perfect for taking stunning photos and connecting with nature.
On the way back, we’ll make a final stop at an impressive cenote. Here, you can refresh yourself in the crystal-clear waters and marvel at the natural rock formations. Additionally, you’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch featuring authentic Yucatecan flavors.

You will also visit the impressive Cenote Zací, a natural treasure located right in the center of the city.

Description: This tour also begins at the Main Square, but takes you along a path full of mystery and evening charm. You will stroll through the picturesque cobblestone streets and be amazed by the colorful facades leading you to the imposing Exconvento de San Bernardino, where you will explore one of the most popular museums in the city. The tour culminates at the Exmonastery of San Bernardino just before the light show, an unforgettable experience to end the day.

We had a buffet lunch at the on-site restaurant before swimming in the gorgeous space. After that, Sergio took us to Ek Balam, and our guide there, William, was fantastic – his enthusiasm, curiosity and passion for the site were infectious, and taught us a lot, in a kind and conversational way, about the decoration, possible functions, and continued archaeological uncovering of the ruins. The buildings are very interesting and have a beautiful setting – it’s more interactive than Chichén Itzá; you can explore the structures in a different way, and it’s perhaps easier to get a feel for it as a space as it was once inhabited. Comparing the two two sites is, in itself, an interesting experience. Would definitely recommend!
